Why the Music in Les Misérables (2012) is Worse than you Thought

I've spent the last 48 hours just trimming and resizing clips and watching render bars fill up just trying to get it through the copyright bot.
I feel like I say this every month, but I really do appreciate all of you guys being there to have my back just in case I never get to hold onto the copyright for this video.
Reading the comments, I'm very happy that people aren't just seeing this video and a "slash and burn" takedown of Les Mis.
I didn't want to have a video just trashing poor Russel Crowe for 30 minutes, and it seems like everyone got that he was really a victim of this overly ambitious film.
Like I said, I'm very conflicted about this film, it proves that it's possible to create a successful film in these demanding circumstances, and to that end it seems that Hooper managed to accomplish what he set out to achieve.
But at the same time, the conditions on set were needlessly expensive, time-consuming, and fundamentally dangerous.
For what it's worth, I'm content knowing that maybe at some point someone'll see this video and realize how important it is to take care of your voice.
But in the meantime, as always,

2020-07-03 13:15:39 +0000 UTCi remember what a big deal this movie was and then going to theater and not being blown away. like would not watch again. it instead made me watch and downloaded other versions of the musical that sounded better. as you said, the only bit i remember of the movie was loving was the trio of perfection (possibly some more of the side characters). and i really didn't understand even back then why the BIG NAMES got like such cruddy treatment. i think anne hathaway mentioned they used real seaweed to decorate one of the sets she was on, which of course started to stink after awhile. i did not know it was as bad as you put it, though. is there any more modern movie musicals you actually thought did good?
