8 months of liquid gold and my lil chunk is thriving ๐คฉ
I always knew I wanted to breastfeed- the superior benefits to mama & baby are undeniable.
We have luckily had a very natural & seamless breastfeeding journey. And Iโm super grateful for it, as I know itโs not the case for everyone.
But I also believe if mamas had a better support system, more encouragement & proper education around the benefits - there would be a lot more breastfed babies!!
I also support that every woman should chose to feed their baby in whatever way works for their family, without guilt โค๏ธ but only after being fully informed and given adequate support if needed. (Not pushed into formula out of fear ๐)
Iโve personally chosen to exclusively breastfeed. I feed on demand. I donโt worry about a schedule. I just tune into my baby and I know what he needs. Whether heโs hungry or just needs connection- itโs up to him how much/often he wants to nurse.
Yes, itโs demanding but this is what i believe is best for us and these moments are so special ๐ฅน he wonโt need me in this way forever, and Iโm soaking it all in.
I share this in case other mamas feel this pull to do things differently. To cut out the noise and do what YOU feel is right. It seems weโve lost touch with our own intuition and are looking towards books, schedules, โexpertsโ and what everyone else says we should do- instead of trying to understand how our babies are communicating with us.
And this is coming from someone who was very type-a, schedule oriented pre-baby ๐คช
I hope we can get back to trusting ourselves and our little ones. And I hope that any mama who wants to breastfeed can get the support she needs to make it happen ๐ฅฐ donโt give upโ itโs sooo worth it โค๏ธ
